2. Your Evaluation Lesson
Every new EquiPoint rider starts with a one-hour private introductory evaluation lesson. The evaluation is $150 and is paid before you ride, either when you book it online or by the invoice the Barn sends once your time is arranged. At the evaluation your trainer gets to know the Rider, matches a suitable horse, and recommends the membership that fits.
If you need to move your evaluation, please give the Barn at least twenty-four (24) hours' notice, except in the case of a child's illness.
3. Choosing a Membership
After your evaluation you choose a membership with your trainer or the Barn. Signing this Agreement does not commit you to a membership: if you do not choose one, nothing more is charged.
How your membership starts. When you tell the Barn which membership you want — in person, by phone, by text, or by email — the Barn will confirm your membership, its start date, and its weekly price to you in writing before the first charge, and will then start weekly autopay for that membership on the card you used for your evaluation (or another card you give the Barn). From your start date, the terms of this Agreement for that membership apply to you.
4. The Memberships
Foundation — one (1) scheduled riding lesson each week on a Tier 1 EquiPoint lesson horse with Tier 1 instruction. $150 per week. Month to month. Foundation is every new rider's first sixty (60) days and moves up to Committed on day 60 unless you choose to stay (Section 7). Foundation does not carry show eligibility on Barn horses.
Committed — two (2) scheduled riding lessons each week on a Tier 2 lesson horse chosen for you by the trainer, with access to Tier 2 instruction and one (1) weekday and one (1) weekend slot guaranteed. $325 per week, or $15,600 prepaid for twelve (12) months. Six (6) month minimum. Show and clinic requirement (Section 9).
Lease-Lite — premium access to one designated Tier 3 EquiPoint show horse with Tier 3 instruction in premium trainer time slots: three (3) rides each week, or two (2) lessons and a hack day, all scheduled in advance. From $550 per week, depending on the designated horse, or prepaid for twelve (12) months at $25 a week less than the weekly rate ($27,300 at $550 a week); your weekly price is confirmed to you in writing under Section 3 before any charge. Six (6) month minimum. Show and clinic requirement (Section 9), with no horse lease fee at shows and first call on your horse for show dates. Lease-Lite is a lease alternative, not a lease: the designated horse remains EquiPoint's property, stays in the Barn's care and program, and you acquire no ownership or possessory interest in it. If the horse becomes unsound, unsuitable, or unavailable, the Barn will assign a comparable horse.
Tack trunk. Lease-Lite riders who pay weekly receive an EquiPoint tack trunk at 50% off the Barn's retail price; riders who prepay twelve (12) months receive the trunk free. The trunk is ordered after your first payment and is yours to keep.
Add-ons. Full Grooming — $75 per week, available on Committed and Lease-Lite. Show Program — $125 per week, a prepayment applied against your show billing covering four (4) shows per year, chosen and registered up front; it is not a cap on show charges. Add-ons bill on the same weekly autopay and can be started or stopped with sixty (60) days' written notice.
5. Tuition, Autopay, and Late Fees
Membership tuition is billed every week — fifty-two (52) billing cycles per year — and charged automatically on the same day each week to the payment method you keep on file. It continues until your membership ends under Section 6.
Autopay is mandatory. By enrolling in lessons at EquiPoint you acknowledge and agree that automatic payment is required for continued participation. You are responsible for keeping a valid payment method on file; a failed charge may pause lessons until your account is current.
Pay-in-full option. Where a membership offers it, you may prepay twelve (12) months in advance instead of paying weekly. A prepayment is paid up front, covers twelve months from your start date, is not refundable in part, and does not renew automatically until you choose to renew.
Charges invoiced separately from tuition — show billing, hauling, add-on services, and anything else outside the weekly tuition — are due the day the invoice is delivered. A 15% late fee applies to any balance still unpaid after seven (7) days.
6. Term and Cancellation
Sixty days' written notice. Either of us may end any membership by giving sixty (60) days' written notice; an email to the Barn is fine. On Foundation this applies after your first sixty (60) days; on Committed and Lease-Lite it applies after the minimum term below.
Six-month minimum on Committed and Lease-Lite. Committed and Lease-Lite carry a six (6) month minimum commitment from your start date: twenty-six (26) weekly payments ($8,450 on Committed; $14,300 on Lease-Lite at $550 a week). The minimum term is what allows the Barn to hold your standing lesson times, and on Lease-Lite one horse off the general lesson roster, for you. Ending inside the minimum term does not release the remaining weeks: the balance of the minimum term becomes due on the date notice is given, unless the Barn agrees otherwise in writing.
During a notice period you may either take the remaining lessons or forfeit them. All tuition and lesson charges for the 60-day notice period are due on the date the notice is given. Tuition already charged is not refunded.
7. Foundation: Moving Up to Committed on Day 60
Foundation is where every EquiPoint rider starts: sixty (60) days of one lesson a week to build the stamina, balance, and athleticism that riding twice a week asks for. You may move up sooner at any time.
The move is automatic unless you choose to stay. On the sixtieth (60th) day after your Foundation start date (your "move-up date"), your membership moves to Committed: two (2) scheduled riding lessons each week with Tier 2 instruction, billed weekly at $325 per week. From your move-up date the Committed terms of this Agreement apply to you, including Committed's six (6) month minimum commitment, which starts on your move-up date, and its show and clinic requirement.
We will tell you before it happens. The Barn will remind you in writing at least fourteen (14) days and again three (3) days before your move-up date, and will ask which days and times suit you for your second weekly lesson.
Staying on Foundation is always your choice. If you would rather keep one lesson a week, tell the Barn in writing — an email is fine — at any time before your move-up date. You will stay on Foundation at $150 per week, with nothing to pay and no questions asked, and you can move up later whenever you are ready.
Move-up gifts. When the Rider moves up to Committed within the first sixty (60) days — automatically or sooner by choice — the Barn gives the Rider an air vest (an $800 value), fitted by the Barn the week of the move, and a $50 credit toward a KASK helmet. The gifts are the Rider's to keep.
8. Missed Lessons, Makeups, Cancellation Notice, and Closure Weeks
Your standing lesson time reserves a horse, an instructor, and arena time that the Barn holds for you whether or not the Rider attends.
Makeup lessons. Foundation does not include makeup lessons: a missed Foundation lesson is not rescheduled, carried forward, credited, or refunded, and it bills as normal. Committed and Lease-Lite include up to three (3) makeup lessons in each six (6) month period of your membership, counted from your start date. A makeup is earned when you cancel a lesson at least twenty-four (24) hours before it starts (a child's illness excepted), and it is scheduled with the Barn subject to horse and instructor availability. A makeup must be used within the six-month period in which it was earned; unused makeups do not carry forward, and are not credited or refunded. Once the three makeups in a period are used, a missed ride is not rescheduled: the trainer rides your horse in that slot instead, a training ride that keeps your horse tuned and working for you, and the session bills as normal.
Cancellation notice. Twenty-four (24) hours' notice is required to cancel a lesson, except in the case of a child's illness. A lesson canceled with less notice, or a no-show, does not earn a makeup and is billed as normal.
Closure weeks. The Barn closes for five (5) weeks each year for major holidays, show weeks, and facility maintenance; the dates are published in advance. Tuition is priced across the whole year — forty-seven (47) instructional weeks spread evenly over fifty-two (52) weekly payments — and bills as normal in a closure week. Lessons that fall in a closure week are not made up, credited, or refunded.
Weather and trainer judgment. Weather or a last-minute trainer decision can require a change of plan. Extreme heat or cold may mean an unmounted, curriculum-based lesson instead of a ride. These sessions are part of the program and are not optional; failing to attend one is a missed lesson and is billed as normal. Safety is the Barn's first priority.
9. Shows and Clinics (Committed and Lease-Lite)
Committed and Lease-Lite riders are eligible to show EquiPoint horses, subject to the Barn's approval of the horse, the division, and the Rider's readiness.
Show requirement. Committed requires a minimum of two (2) horse shows every six (6) months, and Lease-Lite requires a minimum of three (3) horse shows every six (6) months. Your shows are selected when your membership starts, so that the Barn can plan the show calendar and register you in advance.
Lessons in a show week. If your lessons fall in the week of a horse show you are participating in, those lessons transfer to warm-up lessons at the show.
Missed-show buy-out. If you do not attend the minimum number of shows within the six-month period, a buy-out of $3,000 per missed show becomes due, and you authorize the Barn to charge it to the payment method on file under Section 14. The buy-out exists because a show-eligible horse is held and planned around your entries; it is not a penalty for a show the Barn cancels or for a show the Barn agrees in writing to move.
Clinic requirement. Committed and Lease-Lite require attendance at two (2) clinics per year. If the Rider does not attend a required clinic, a charge of $450 becomes due for that clinic and you authorize the Barn to charge it to the payment method on file under Section 14.
Horse show lease fee. When an EquiPoint horse leaves the property for a show, Committed riders pay a horse show lease fee of $750 per horse show week; where another rider shows the same horse that week, the Barn may split that fee between you, and you pay only your share. Lease-Lite riders pay no horse show lease fee for their designated horse.
Show billing. Show charges are invoiced separately and are not included in tuition. They may include stabling, hauling at the Barn's per-mile rate, show-day coaching, full-service grooming, groom gratuity, per diem for staff working the show, accommodations, shared equipment such as a golf cart, supplies, braiding, and any medications or health certificates. Entry fees and other charges billed by the show itself are paid by you directly to the show. A show deposit may be required before entries are submitted. Show invoices are due the day they are delivered, and the late fee in Section 5 applies after seven (7) days.
10. Scheduling, and What Tuition Covers
Your lesson times are standing, recurring slots set with the Barn so that a horse, an instructor, and arena time are reserved for you each week. Changes to a standing time are arranged with the Barn rather than self-served, so that the schedule stays workable for every rider and every horse.
Tuition covers the scheduled lessons or rides of your membership — the instruction, the horse, tack, and arena time for those sessions. It does not cover horse-show charges of any kind (Section 9), veterinary, farrier, or supplement costs for privately owned horses, personal equipment, or optional clinics and events.
The rest of the agreement. The full agreement you sign also includes the barn rules and dress code, the helmet and safety policy, the liability release with the Texas farm animal activity warning, the media release, a confidentiality section, and the payment authorization. You read and sign all of it, with initials on the key terms, before your evaluation.
